Portrait of Alfonso d'Avalos with a Page
Hercules
Today, we are going to steal a really valuable artwork.
Wu Tang
Oh, what kind of artwork is it?
Hercules
It's a portrait called 'Portrait of Alfonso d'Avalos with a Page' by Titian.
Wu Tang
Who is Alfonso d'Avalos? And what's so special about this portrait?
Hercules
Alfonso d'Avalos was a general in the service of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. This portrait was painted by Titian in 1533. It has been in the Getty Museum in Los Angeles since 2004.
Wu Tang
Wow, that sounds impressive! What's the story behind this painting?
Hercules
After Titian painted this portrait, it was inherited by the subject's son marquis Francesco Ferdinando d'Avalos. It then moved to Poland and was owned by Jan Sobieski and Stanislaus II. August Poniatowski. Later, it was probably donated to the Potocki family. In 1921, it was sold to countess Martine-Marie-Pol de BĂ©hague. And eventually, it ended up in the Getty Museum.
Hercules
I must say, this painting is absolutely stunning. The details, the composition, everything about it is just perfect.
Bob
Hold it right there, Hercules! I've been tracking your art heists, and I won't let you get away with this.
Hercules
Oh no, Bob! Can't you see? This artwork is a masterpiece. I have so much love and admiration for it.
Wu Tang
Come on, Hercules! We have no time to waste. Let's get out of here.
Hercules
You're right, Wu Tang. Let's go before Bob catches us.
Wu Tang
(mumbles) I can't believe the boss gets so carried away with these paintings every time.
