Diana and Callisto
Hercules
So, Wu Tang, today we are going to steal a really amazing artwork.
Wu Tang
What kind of artwork is it this time, boss?
Hercules
It's called 'Diana and Callisto' by an artist named Titian.
Wu Tang
Tell me more about it.
Hercules
This painting was created between 1556 and 1559 by an Italian artist called Titian. It shows the moment when the goddess Diana discovers that her maid Callisto is pregnant with Jupiter's child.
Wu Tang
Whoa, that sounds interesting! But what's so special about it?
Hercules
Well, besides the compelling story, this painting is part of a series of seven famous canvases called the 'poesies', which depict mythological scenes from Ovid's Metamorphoses. These were painted for Philip II of Spain after Maximilian II declined Titian's offer to paint them.
Wu Tang
I see. And where is this painting displayed now?
Hercules
It's jointly owned by the National Gallery and the Scottish National Gallery. They bought it for a staggering £45 million in 2012. It's displayed between London and Edinburgh.
Hercules
But let me tell you, Wu Tang, the beauty of this artwork is beyond words. When I first saw it, I was stunned. It made me feel like a new world opened up before my eyes.
Bob
Hold it right there, Hercules! I knew I would find you here, up to your old tricks.
Wu Tang
Oh no, it's Bob! I'm outta here!
Hercules
Wait, Wu Tang! Oh well, I better run too. We'll get him next time, my friend!
Wu Tang
Boss, you always get us into trouble. I'm tired of running away. Can't we come up with a better plan?
