Gorgeous Carat is a yaoi manga series set in the Victorian Era in France. It tells the story of Florian, the last heir of a poor noble family, who agrees to be sold to Noir, a master thief, in order to pay off his family's debts. Florian is 20 years old with blond hair and violet eyes. Noir, who goes by the name Count Ray Balzac Courland, is an 18-year-old usurer and prefers using a whip as a weapon. Laila, Noir's right-hand woman, is in love with him and a little jealous of his relationship with Florian. There is also Solomon Sugar, a private investigator determined to expose Noir's true identity, who calls him his 'black cat'. Other characters include Noel, a five-year-old boy who becomes attached to Florian due to his resemblance to his mother, and Louise, the female head of the Black Hand's Paris branch. Azura, Noir's blood brother, is secretly the head of several criminal organizations. The series explores the complex relationships and adventures of these characters. Gorgeous Carat has been serialized in various volumes and received English translations under the Eyes Comics and Blu Manga lines.
