Bakuman is a Japanese manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. It follows the story of two boys, Moritaka Mashiro and Akito Takagi, who aspire to become manga artists. The series takes place in the world of Weekly Shōnen Jump, a popular manga magazine, and features characters who resemble real authors and editors. Bakuman was serialized from August 2008 to April 2012, with its 176 chapters collected into 20 tankōbon volumes. It has been well-received, topping the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list and selling over 15 million copies. Bakuman also received a 75-episode anime adaptation and a live-action film. The series explores themes of dreams, friendship, and the challenges of the manga industry.
